Job Summary

Assist with moderately complex patient care throughout one or more physician practices; responsible for the safe transport of patients, dispatch services, and appropriate documentation of servicesCollect data andtranspose information into patient chartRender limited direct patient care; instruct patients and familymembers on the care requirements as directed by the attending physician or advanced practice clinician

Essential Functions

Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection. Monitors and communicates changes in patient conditionDocuments patient care givenMaintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshootingMaintains examination areasPerforms administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, andpatient registration

High school diploma or equivalent - Required

Certifications

Basic Life Support (BLS)Certified or Registered Medical AssistantStrong knowledge of basic medical terminologyWorking knowledge of general office equipment (i.e., copy machine, fax, 10-key calculator, etc.)General knowledge of the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)Strong customer service skills and the ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude with patients and guestBasic computer skills and the ability to operate simple to moderately complex software platformsGood oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectivelyInterpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with persons of varying personality typesOrganizational skills and the ability to multitaskProblem solving skills and the ability plan and prioritize workAbility to be detail oriented and accurately document details and actionsAbility to maneuver, lift, push, and/or carry patients and/or equipment with limited aideAbility to work effectively in a clinical setting with medical staffAbility to manage change effectivelyAbility to demonstrate and maintain a compassionate attitude with others

Experience

Six (6) months of Medical Assistant or similar experience in a physician office setting preferred

Required Skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervisionMust beable to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action

Education

High school diploma or equivalent - Required

Certifications
