JOB SUMMARY

\n

The Certified Medical Assistant helps in the delivery of health care to patients by performing administrative and routine clinical tasks. The CMA In Basket performs appropriate tasks, for top of credential/role, associated with the in basket and patient electronic medical records.

\n

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

\n\nAddresses in-scope messaging using standard workflow.\nServes as initial reviewer of all in basket messages assigned to the care team. Identifies messages appropriate for top of license role.\nInserts patient education as instructed by physician.\nMarks status of in basket messages appropriately so other care team members can identify ownership of actions needed.\nMatures and routes messages not in scope to appropriate team member, pool or provider.\nDocuments clearly and efficiently in the electronic medical record.\nCoordinates referrals and prior authorizations (per clinic workflow).\nCompletes FMLA, home health and other paperwork.\nExecutes standing delegated orders.\nAddresses pend/plan orders and associated diagnosis codes.\nPerforms administrative duties such as patient calls, Mychart notifications, relaying messages.\nServes as initial owner of care gap closure for assigned patient panels.\nMay be required to perform in-clinic CMA duties as outlined in the CMA job descriptions.\n\n

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

\n\nAbility to successfully manage in basket activity per scope and licensure. Adheres to and knows about in basket productivity measures and turnaround time targets.\nKnowledge of values of safe and accurate medical administration.\nKnowledge of the five rights: right patient, right medication, right dose, right route, and right time.\nAbility to accurately document patient information by the organizational policies, regulations and procedures.\nFamiliarity with HIPPA regulations.\nAbility to give injections and draw blood.\nKnowledge of medical terminology.\nGood listening and social communication (oral and written) skills.\nAbility to promptly assess requests by using electronic and paper resource materials and correctly respond to patient inquiries.\nExcellent data entry, numeric, typing and computer navigational skills with attention to details.\nRelaxed working in a fast paced and changing environment.\n\n
