LGHP Ob/GYN is recruiting a Certified Nurse Midwife to add to our team of providers (Ob/GYN physicians and Women's Health nurse practitioners). The position is for a 1.0 FTE. The time is intended to be split between office sessions and labor floor/triage coverage. We have two office locations, Womens & Babies Hospital and Parkesburg. Our practice participates in residency training with the LGH Family Medicine residency program.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the assessment, plan, implementation and evaluation of nurse midwifery care delivered to antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum, and newborn patients. Performs physical exams, collect and documents data, manages labor and spontaneous delivery, conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations, and prescribes appropriate interventions and medications. The CNM practice includes care to uncomplicated gynecological patients as well as to obstetrical patients and their newborns during the antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum periods in the hospital setting. Functions independently, but in collaboration with the attending physician and interdisciplinary healthcare team, to provide midwifery services to patients. Self-directed, responsible and accountable for clinical practice. Provides continuity, compassionate, culturally sensitive care to patients. Interests and responsibilities extend to the community level where they strive to improve maternal/child health from a patient-centered/family-centered approach.
