The Opportunity:
MaineGeneral Health is offering an exciting opportunity for a Certified Nurse’s Aide to join our 12-bed high acuity Inpatient Physical Rehab Unit at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta. Our unit is dedicated to the treatment and recovery of individuals who have experienced the debilitating effects of a severe injury or illness.
The Work:
Assist the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance to the CNA's training, competence and skills, hospital policies and procedures and the State Board of Nursing rules for delegated nursing tasks to unlicensed personnel.Perform patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient's age and physical limitationsPerform personal care which may include assisting with bath/shower, hands/face washing as needed, oral hygiene, peri-care, freshening linen, cleaning over bed tables, straightening room and other general care as neededNotifies appropriate licensed personnel when patient complains of painPrepare patients for meals; serves and removes food trays and assists with meals or feeds patients if necessaryDistribute drinking water and other nourishments to patientsAnswers patient call lights, anticipates patient's needs and makes rounds to assigned patientsPerform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safetyReport and, when appropriate, record any changes observed in condition or behavior of patients and unusual incidentsAssist licensed nursing staff with treatment proceduresIntegrates the plan of care with Rehabilitation Services treatment plan to attain patient's optimal level of functioningProvide general nursing care: positioning patients, lifting and turning patients, applying/utilizing special equipment, assisting patients with the bedpan, commode; assists ambulating patients. Uses correct body mechanicsCheck patient for reddened areas or skin breakdown and reports to licensed nursing staffObtain and record temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, weight, intake and outputMakes rounds with oncoming shift to ensure the unit is left in good conditionCommunicate appropriately and clearly to nurse, supervisor, co-workers, physicians and the Rehabilitation Services staffFollow infection control procedures. Keeps the unit clean and organizedPerform other duties as assigned within the nurse assistant's scope of practiceYou Have:
State of Maine Certified Nursing Assistant Certification.Current BLS (American Heart Association).Ability to think and work independently and with direction, and communicate with staff members in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.High School graduate or equivalent.
