This is a Part Time position.
SUMMARY:
Provides patient treatment under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. Documents patient treatment and progress toward goals in the medical record. Implements established treatment programs and provides patient/family education.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assists in planning and implementing educational, vocational, and recreational programs established by Occupational Therapist.
Instructs, motivates, and assists patients and their families in appropriate continued occupational therapy programs as well as care of and use of adaptive equipment.
Observes and reports patients’ responses to treatments and progress and reports orally and/or in writing to the Occupational Therapist.
Collaborate with Occupational Therapist and other health team members to exchange and discuss patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment programs.
Assist in evaluation of client’s daily living skills and capabilities to determine extent of abilities and limitations.
Designs and adapts equipment in working/living environment.
Performs clerical duties such as taking inventory, answering the telephone, taking messages, and completing forms.
Maintains safety of the work environment including equipment and notifies appropriate personnel if necessary.
Stays abreast of current developments and new technology in occupational therapy and may provide in-services on continuing education information to other staff members.
Precepts in the direction and evaluation of clinical experience/internships of students from participating colleges or universities.
Participates in the performance evaluations of other staff.
Provides formal orientation to new Occupational Therapy Assistants and/or Rehabilitation Aides.
Adheres to the standards and policies of the Corporate Responsibility Program, including the duty to comply with applicable laws and regulations, and reporting to designated Manager (or employer hotline) any suspected unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful acts or practices

Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on assigned unit.

Interprets information need to identify each patients requirements relative to his/her age-specific need.
Adheres to all standards and policies regarding safety patient/safety initiatives.
EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:
1.Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program.
2.Must possess (or be eligible for) certification in the State of Ohio.
3.Must possess interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with physicians, patient, and families, and analytical abilities sufficient to evaluate patient condition, capabilities and progress.
4.CPR certification.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
1.Works in a normal patient care environment.
2.Work requires frequent walking, standing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, bending, and handling. Exert force of 20-50 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10 lbs. constantly.
