Shift Worked: Varies Weekly Hours: 75 FLSA Status: Non Exempt Pay range: $62,400 - $91,000Currently CP Unlimited is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) to join our team of professionals to work in our Bronx Community Living Program. The COTA is responsible for implementing prescribed occupational therapy treatment programs that have been selected and delegated by the supervising Occupational Therapist. Provides services that will maintain and/or restore function secondary to acute or chronic disability, conducts annual screens, and daily documentation.
Specific Position duties of the COTA Include:
Reviews medical records, verifies MD’s orders and occupational therapist’s assessment prior to implementing OT treatment. Maintains active/up to date MD prescriptions as outlined by NYS Department of Health (DOH) and Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) depending upon work assignment. Communicates with supervisor regarding persons receiving services in the areas of cognitive/perceptual skills, sensor-motor, musculoskeletal status, CNS status, the use of assistive technology and adaptive equipment needs (e.g., ADL devices). Confers with physician and other health care practitioners to obtain additional information on persons receiving services. Integrates input from persons receiving services, family, and direct care staff in treatment. Writes specific, objective, and measurable documentation, which is outcome oriented and details the persons receiving service’s needs, potential to benefit from treatment, and progress achieved to date. Provides training to persons receiving services, families and/or direct care staff in specific supportive programs. Participates and attends care plan/team meetings as needed for persons receiving OT services. Implements a treatment plan, generated by the OT, which may include ROM, therapeutic exercise, cognitive/perceptual re-training, ADL, wheelchair mobility, pre-vocational skills, and application of physical agent modalities: hot packs, cold packs, and paraffin.To qualify for the COTA position:
Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy assistant school; New York State license. Knowledge in the use of adaptive equipment, therapeutic activities.
