Position OverviewUnited Health Services (UHS) is seeking an Operating Room Technician to join our surgical team and play a vital role in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality care. In this fast-paced role, you’ll prepare operating rooms, ensure surgical instruments are sterile and ready, and assist surgeons and nurses during procedures to support optimal patient outcomes.

UHS Binghamton General Hospital, Binghamton, NY
There is more than one location associated with this position. This is either because there are multiple openings at different sites, or the successful candidate will be required to float across multiple UHS facilities. Shift and Schedule:
There are multiple shift and schedule opportunities available for this role. You'll work with your recruiter to understand the needs of the department and how they align with your preferred work schedule.
Compensation Range:
$25.27 - $37.90 per hour, depending on experience
You will be eligible for benefits if you are hired into a regular position with at least 24 scheduled weekly hours.

Job Responsibilities:
+ Follows Infection Control policies and procedures and demonstrates expertise in surgical scrub technique.
+ Adheres to principles of sterile technique preoperatively and intra-operatively.
+ Assists the surgeon when needed gowning, gloving, draping, and passing of instruments and other related items during the procedure. Anticipates the surgeon’s need for instruments, sutures, and equipment.
+ Maintains an organized operative field at all times by keeping the instruments clean and in their proper place.
+ Keeps an accurate sponge, tape, needle, dissector, and instrument count.
+ Prepares for cases by assembling supplies and equipment in accordance with preference cards and identifies conflicts or problems. Cares appropriately for instruments and supplies after each case.
+ Provides a safe surgical environment for the patient, identifying potential hazards to the surgeon, RN and assisting RN circulator in preoperative checks of equipment.
+ Displays knowledge of potential hazards (equipment, chemical, or gases) within the Operating Room.
+ Utilizes experienced OR staff as a resource, and acts as a resource for new OR personnel.
+ Assists in suturing, retracting, suctioning under direction of the surgeon.
+ Handles and identifies specimens per policy.
+ Expedites the effective and efficient turn-over of the OR between cases.
+ Takes rotating call duty.
Position Qualifications
Minimum Required
+ Meets the NYS Surgical Technologist Certification Law; OR Completed a Surgical Technologist program in the Armed Forces; OR Completed a nationally accredited educational program for Surgical Technologist with a nationally accredited Surgical Technologist credential OR graduated an accredited school of Practical Nursing and has an active NY state LPN license.

+ CPR Certification within 3 months of hire
