As a Certified Peer Specialist, you will be instrumental in helping clients develop essential recovery skills, access community resources, and achieve sustainable, meaningful recovery.

In this role, you will utilize your unique perspective as someone with lived experience in mental health or substance use recovery to provide support, mentorship, and guidance. Working closely with individuals and their families, you will foster resilience, hope, and recovery through one-on-one interactions, group sessions, and advocacy.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with individuals to develop personalized treatment plans that address their specific needs and recovery goals.

Provide one-on-one mentoring, advocacy, and coaching to encourage recovery and resilience.

Support individuals in accessing recovery tools, medical services, and community-based resources.

Foster connections between individuals, their community, and recovery supports within their community.

Facilitate group education sessions and offer crisis intervention as needed.

Help individuals identify strengths and set achievable recovery goals.

Maintain clear and concise documentation of services provided in compliance with state and CARF standards.

Represent the agency professionally while accompanying clients to appointments or services.

Adhere to ethical and confidentiality standards while serving as a source of hope and encouragement.

Actively participate in professional development and training opportunities.

Education, Experience, and/or Credential Qualifications:

Must self-identify as a person in recovery from mental health and/or substance use disorders and demonstrate one year of recovery.

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Willingness to complete a state-approved Certified Peer Support training program within six months of employment.

Exceptions to qualifications may be made by the appropriate Leadership.

Additional Qualifications:

Must be 21 years of age or older.

Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and current auto insurance.

Commitment to completing training on various aspects of recovery and client support within the first year of employment.

Knowledge of community resources and the challenges faced by individuals in recovery.

Physical Requirements:

Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.

Requires walking or standing to a significant degree, or sitting for extended periods with occasional pushing or pulling of materials.
