Job Description:
Under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, the Certified Pharmacy Technician prepares and dispenses medications including, but not limited to, filling unit dose carts, manufacturing small volume and large volume compounded sterile products and chemotherapy, and packages of solid and liquid dosage forms.
Additional responsibilities may include assisting the pharmacy purchasing clerk in stock acquisition and maintenance, bedside medication verification support (bar coding, scanning, Meditech, PYXIS, and packaging machine infrastructure maintenance and staff training) and other distributive functions as assigned.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required, or higher.
Must be certified by an accredited Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.
Current Pharmacy Technician License as issued by the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy required.
Certified Pharmacy Technicians are required to participate in a training program and may perform only those tasks for which they have been trained and been deemed competent to perform.
Proficiency in compounding IV admixtures required.
