Certified Recovery Specialist

Perinatal Certified Recovery Specialist (PCRS) will assist in facilitating a collaborative relationship between pregnant mothers and the Nurse Navigator for the Perinatal Center of Excellence team. The identified Perinatal Certified Recovery Specialist should have had their own personal experience with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome to draw from and share with client. PCRS will collaborate with the Perinatal Center of Excellence team of physicians, Perinatal Intensive Case Managers, and Perinatal Nurse Navigator to provide supportive treatment and medical services for pregnant women.

The PCRS will link pregnant mothers to available community resources and monitor retention in treatment and supportive services.  Additionally, the PCRS will educate the pregnant mother with the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve and maintain self-sufficiency, recovery and maintenance from substance abuse and opioid disorders.  PCRS will be required to attain a Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) Credential within 6 months of hire.

Performs duties in support of the Medical Center mission to ensure the highest quality of client care in an economically sound and efficient manner. Performs duties in support of the Perinatal Centers of Excellence Grant to provide access to services, smooth transitions in treatment and be part of the community-based care treatment team.

This position serves: All pregnant clients under the PCOE and substance abuse treatment.

Education and Training:  

Has a high school diploma or GED, and within the past three years has maintained at least twelve months of successful part-time or voluntary work experience or obtained 24 credits hours of post-secondary education, and has completed a recovery specialist certification training curriculum approved by the Department, to be completed 6 months into employment or has taken and passed the certification for Recovery Specialist.

Experience and Knowledge:

A Perinatal Recovery Specialist is a self-identified individual in recovery, that has experienced the services of perinatal or NAS services in their person life.

Registration, Licensure and/or Certification:  

Valid Motor Vehicle driver’s license.

Must pass certification exam for Recovery Specialist training within 6 months of hire.
