**Responsibilities**
Monitor and assist with maintenance of the hospital departmental Charge Master to ensure coding of new and existing charge codes are within applicable coding and reimbursement regulations.
+ Analyze the coverage guidelines for billable services to reduce or prevent future claim denials.
+ Organize the bundling or unbundling of charges so that all charges submitted result in maximum reimbursement.
+ Assist the billing personnel in resolving third party and other billing problems.
+ Communicate information to all applicable departments.
+ Assist with establishing, maintaining and periodically auditing charge code RVU's for applicable decision support systems.
+ Conduct periodic and ongoing comprehensive reviews, audits, and refinements of new and existing changes to the Charge Master in order to ensure compliance with organizational policy requirements and proper charging.
**Requirements**
Education:
+ High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate'sdegree/Bachelor's degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
**Additional Preferences**
**Minimum Requirements:**
+ **Required Certifications/Licensure:** Candidates must have one of the following certifications thru AAPC (credentialing board): Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) - **STRONGLY PREFERRED** and Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
+ **Hybrid position** - Flexible with local IL traveling, required (Northwest and Chicago Metro facilities) - **must reside in Illinois due to travel requirement**
+ **Minimum Education:** High School Diploma or Equivalent
+ **Minimum Years of Experience:**
+ **Medical Assistants with coding background, preferred**
+ 1 year risk coding experience, preferred (NEW GRADUATES WELCOME)
+ Experience in HCC or chronic condition coding
+ Experience in medical practice outpatient setting
**Essential Functions:**
+ Provider ambulatory chart reviews to identify inaccurate or unclear documentation and coding relating to risk adjustment and version 28 HCC ICD-10
+ Utilizes approved Ascension resources to determine the appropriate v28 HCC ICD 10 diagnosis codes and ensures documentation in the medical record follows official ICD-10 coding guidelines, internal guidelines and AHIMA/ACDIS physician query brief
+ Provides ongoing feedback to physicians (primary care and specialty) and other clinicians and non clinical staff regarding HCC coding guidelines and requirements, including education and support for improvement in v28 HCC coding performance. Must participate with educational in-services for physicians, other clinicians and non clinical staff relating to clinical documentation compliance related to billing
+ Provides education to providers on the importance of diagnosis specificity. Will participate in presenting and disseminating provider communication and other activities related to clinical documentation and HCC coding improvements
