**Job Overview**
Lutheran Downtown Hospital is seeking a **Certified Surgical Technician (CST)** to join our team. As part of a modern hospital that opened in 2021, this role involves providing essential support in surgical procedures, preparing operating suites, and assisting the medical team to ensure quality patient outcomes.
**Facility Highlights**
Lutheran Downtown Hospital is a state-of-the-art 60-bed facility offering both inpatient and outpatient services, featuring:
+ A 19-room emergency department
+ Four operating suites
+ Three gastroenterology suites
+ Robotic-assisted surgery capabilities
+ Diagnostic imaging and laboratory services
**Education, Licensure & Certification Requirements**
+ **Required:**
+ High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
+ Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program **or** a surgical technology program provided by the U.S. Armed Forces or the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service.
+ Certification by the **National Board of Surgical Technology (NBSTSA)** (if graduation occurred after July 1, 2009).
+ Certification exam must be attempted within 3 months of employment and successfully passed within 6 months of hire (or 12 months post-graduation).
+ **BCLS certification** at hire or within 30 days of hire (must be maintained).
+ 15 continuing education hours in surgical technology must be completed annually to maintain employment.
**Preferred Experience**
+ At least one year of surgical technician experience, including time as a Surgical Technician Apprentice within the Lutheran Health Network.
**Job Knowledge & Skills**
+ Knowledge of sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques.
+ Familiarity with surgical procedures, instruments, and supplies to prepare for operations effectively.
+ Understanding of growth and developmental stages of patients, enabling care tailored to the needs of various age groups.
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with medical teams and patients.
