Essential Functions: The Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist conducts assessments and provides treatment in therapeutic recreation for referred rehabilitation patients.

Job Qualifications:   

GENERAL DUTIES

Provides Therapeutic Recreation services to patients:
- Evaluates patients and develops individualized treatment plans. Implements treatment plans.
- Provides age-appropriate patient care.
- Conducts community outings.
- Communicates and documents all patient-related information in staffing and medical records.Provides patient and family education and provides resources for discharge planning:
- Provides education regarding modification of leisure activities.
- Performs discharge planning which includes providing recommendations and resources for continued participation in leisure activities.Performs professional and department activities:
- Maintains compliance and records all services performed on rehab van.
- Assists with development and revision of policies and procedures.
- Coordinates program and provides supervision to therapeutic recreation students.

2 years Pediatrics (CHNOLA/Touro)


EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

Required: Bachelor's Degree Recreation Therapy (CHNOLA/Touro/UMC)Preferred: Master's Degree (Touro)
