Overview TRC is seeking a highly motivated Water System Operator for our growing Water and Wastewater Operation and Maintenance Services team in Chandler, Arizona. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic to work with other engineers, project managers, and other technical staff assisting with performing plant operations duties including checking, troubleshooting, and improving water & wastewater pumping and treatment facilities. Responsibilities Under the general direction of the Water Treatment Plant Supervisor, this position works mostly independently as a shift accountable operator to perform a variety of skilled technical duties and tasks in the operation, maintenance, and testing of the RO Water Treatment Plant. Monitors plant functions, collects in-house samples, performs laboratory testing, and adjusts chemical feed rates and equipment to adhere to all regulatory requirements in the production of safe drinking water. Monitor, evaluate and adjust treatment processes to address changes in source water. Understanding of Local, State and Federal regulations and water quality standards. Monitor plant functions and interpreting computer information SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) meters, gauges, and control panel readings and enters data in plant logs. Collect routine process and regulatory samples and perform a variety of laboratory tests; document results and take appropriate actions; enter data into a computer and compile readings and test results into hourly, daily, and monthly reports. Knowledge of facility operation to include operating and maintenance of all equipment, including general knowledge of electrical, hydraulic and mechanical principles. Operate valves, pumps and motors in controlling treatment processes. Maintain and clean plant facility and grounds. Inventories, estimates usage and prepares orders for supplies. Ensures quality of materials received. Unloads, stores and tests quality of chemical deliveries. Respond to and communicate with supervisors and co-workers regarding present and potential problems and hazards. Monitor offsite facilities using SCADA system for pressure, flow rates, and tank levels Notifies field personnel to correct problems and reports back to plant operator Assists other Utility staff in performing maintenance of remote facilities Performs other related duties as assigned; may be called upon to assist other divisions within the Town Must be able to work Seasonal shift schedule, weekends, overnights, holidays, standby and call-back duties required Qualifications Completion of high school education or a GED. Grade 2 or above Water Operator certification from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) in the discipline of Water Treatment & Distribution Valid, unrestricted Arizona Driver's License. At least three years of experience in Water Treatment/Distribution Operations. Proficiency in using a range of hand and power tools, including but not limited to forklifts. Competence in operating laboratory instruments such as pH meters, turbidity meters, colorimeters, etc. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be flexible, well organized, accountable, and dependable. Physically able to perform work in the field. Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors. Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
