General Description\n
Performs welding inspections in accordance with AWS and other DoD standards.\n
Duties\n\nPerform visual inspections of welds to identify defects such as cracks, porosity, undercuts, and improper penetration using visual aids and measuring tools.\nAnalyze and approve welding procedures to ensure they meet project requirements and safety standards.\nAssess welder qualifications by reviewing their test coupons and performance to ensure they are competent for the task.\nMaintain detailed inspection records, document findings, and generate reports detailing any non-conformances or corrective actions required.\nImplement quality control measures to identify and address potential welding issues throughout the project.\nStay updated on relevant welding codes and standards and ensure all work adheres to these regulations.\nComprehensive understanding of welding processes, metallurgy, welding defects, and inspection techniques.\nInterpret and apply welding codes and standards.\nCommunicate with welders, project managers, and other stakeholders to convey inspection results and concerns.\nReview contract requirements and vendor\/contractor compliance\nCandidate will be expected to perform additional inspection duties when required. This may include dimensional inspection of machined parts or visual inspection of coated parts (Alodine, paint, etc.).\nOther duties as assigned\n\n
Education\/Experience Requirements\n\nAssociate degree in welding, metals fabrication, engineering technology, etc. is preferred\nMust have 3+ years of CWI experience\nMust have current certification in accordance with AWS QC1 for CWI or SCWI\nAbility to read and interpret drawings\nComprehensive understanding of welding processes, metallurgy, welding defects, and inspection techniques\nWe maintain a drug-free workplace and perform post offer, pre-employment substance abuse testing.\n\n
