PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

The Local Chief Accountant is responsible for the management of the accounting and financial reporting of legal entities under his/her responsibility. This comprises the orchestration of the different parties involved in the accounting processes (shared services and centers of expertise), the correctness of the financial statements, control over the integrity of the accounting records and the monthly IFRS Group reporting, statutory financial statements and other local financial reporting requirements, local internal controls over financial reporting (including SOX 404), and the management of the external audit.  This position will support legal entities in the Americas Region.

 

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

PRINCIPAL:

Responsible for supporting the delivery of timely and accurate IFRS Group financial statements Ensure internal and external audit requirements, including SOX 404, are met Ensure statutory accounts and other required financial reports are prepared, audited and filed on time and according to applicable requirements Monitor correctness and compliance of accounting relevant data for all finance processes Ensure a high level of satisfaction of those who use the financial reports and build good business relations with key stakeholders Manage relationship with GFS, other internal service providers, global functions, and external service providers.  Act as accounting single point of contact for legal entities and monitor service quality. Ensure that all corporate changes are incorporated into the local accounting Actively engage in the GFA transformation and continuous process improvement Support mergers, acquisitions and divestiture accounting processes as required

 

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Thorough understanding of IFRS accounting rules Fluent in English Ability to work across international teams Good organization and communication skills, able to work independently to drive project completion Ability to deal with ambiguity and uncertainty in a dynamic environment

 

EDUCATION / WORK EXPERIENCE

University degree in accounting Certified Public Accountant 5+ years of collective practical accounting experience at SAP or another multi-national public company and a public accounting firm
