The Department of Chemistry at New York University (NYU) invites applications for the position as the Department Chair and Professor, with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2024 pending administrative and budgetary approval. The Department of Chemistry is seeking a dynamic leader with a distinguished record of scientific achievements with the ability to foster and sustain collaborations and partnerships as the department realizes significant growth, including the recent creation of the Simons Center for Computational Physical Chemistry (https://wp.nyu.edu/sccpc/) and an innovative Chemical Biology Initiative that includes the addition of more than 60,000 square feet of new research space.
The Department’s continued growth plan also includes expansions of its Biomedical Chemistry and Molecular Design Institutes and the addition of numerous junior faculty members. Successful candidates must have a Ph.D. in chemistry or related field and demonstrate strong leadership qualities and administrative skills as well as the potential to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels and to carry out pioneering research, preferably in one of the areas that are priorities in the Department. Interested faculty should demonstrate a willingness to participate in significant interdisciplinary programs within the Washington Square campus, as well as with NYU’s engineering and medical schools, and scholarly activities at its campuses in Shanghai and Abu Dhabi.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $180,000 - $280,000.
