Our behavioral health team features highly trained psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and licensed clinicians. They provide a variety of mental health services on the inpatient unit as well as in the community. Qualifications: Newton Medical Center (NMC) is seeking a full-time, board-certified Psychiatrist to chair the Department of Psychiatry. We are seeking candidates with at least 5 years leadership experience. We are seeking applicants with outstanding administrative and clinical skills. Responsibilities: The Chair’s role will include a mix of clinical and administrative duties. Clinical duties will be on the inpatient unit at NMC. (Sixty percent clinical and forty percent administrative Duties) The Chair will provide clinical oversight to all the current behavioral programs at NMC: + 16-Bed Inpatient Unit + Adult Partial Hospitalization Program + Adult Intensive Outpatient Program + Outpatient Program to include an Injection Clinic and MAT (Medications for Addiction Treatment) + Residential Programs + Psychiatric Consultation and Liaison Service + Psychiatric Emergency Services The Chair will be a role model role model for clinical excellence and patient care. They will collaborate with service line leadership, hospital leadership, and key quality leadership to ensure the department provides exceptional psychiatric care, best practices which drive quality, patient safety, and clinical outcomes. They will actively participate in quality improvement efforts. They will oversee education to staff, trainees, and the community activities. They will create a culture and a learning environment that supports education . They will engage and supports patient experience programs and practices. The Chair will oversee the performance of medical staff, sets goals, and deliver feedback. They will participate in recruitment, retention and development of staff and succession planning. They will function as a liaison between employed/voluntary medical staff and administration. In addition, they will enforce the Hospital and Medical Staff by-laws and rules and regulations in the Department of Psychiatry. The Chair will provide consultations to outside departments as needed. They will ensure strong relationships with the community, collaborate with community- based organizations, health system leadership and philanthropy to ensure program-development and growth. They will participate in developing and implementing strategic goals. Qualifications: + MD or DO with board certification in Psychiatry. + Preferred: Minimum of 6 years of clinical experience in psychiatry, with a strong track record of leadership in a behavioral health setting. + Preferred: Previous experience in a leadership role, preferably in an inpatient psychiatric setting.
