**Job Description** **Location:** Chicago, IL **Hospital:** RUSH University Medical Center **Department:** Adult Health And Gerontology CON **Work Type:** Full Time (Total FTE between 0.9 and 1.0) **Shift:** **Shift 1** **Work Schedule:** 8 Hr (8:00:00 AM - 5:00:00 PM) **Summary** Rush University invites applications for the position of Chairperson for the Department of Adult Health and Gerontological Health Nursing. The Chairperson contributes to the establishment and accomplishment of the College of Nursing and Departmental goals, detailed in the College’s mission, vision and strategic plan. The Department Chairperson will report directly to the Dean of the College of Nursing and will be responsible for meeting the needs of the College in terms of education, research, and practice. **Department Details** As the leader for one of four departments within the college, the Chairperson is responsible for setting Department values, goals and strategies that are congruent with those of the College. Departmental faculty include 53 highly qualified clinicians, educators, and scientists from a variety of disciplines with subspecialty expertise in adult gerontology, acute, critical, and primary care, and anesthesia who educate the students currently enrolled in the graduate programs (MS, DNP, PhD). Our advanced practice nursing programs are consistently ranked in the top 5 by U.S. News and World Report. These include the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program with specialty tracks in Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, and Nurse Anesthesia. **Responsibilities** In this role, the chairperson will: 1. Sustain the College’s reputation for quality education through curriculum guidance and the development of faculty members as proficient and creative teachers. 2. Facilitate Departmental research and scholarly productivity through continuous guidance of Departmental faculty members. 3. Promote a positive College and Departmental climate that supports faculty and students in their quest to attain the goals of education, research, and clinical excellence. 4. Prepare a financial plan that is congruent with College and Departmental goals. 5. Recruit, develop, and retain excellent faculty that meet College and Departmental goals. **Qualifications** + Graduate degree in nursing and an earned doctorate in nursing or a related field. + National recognition as a senior scholar/leader in nursing. + Licensure as a registered nurse in the USA and in Illinois (by time of final appointment) + Eligible for appointment at senior academic rank. + Evidence of progressive administrative responsibility. **The College of Nursing** at Rush University is consistently recognized as one of the premier institutions for nursing education in the nation.
