Chaplains provide spiritual care to patients, families and caregivers, fostering spiritual resources for healing. Spiritual care is a component of healing, so meeting others where they are and helping them during troubled waters is a vital part of a Chaplain’s role.  

PRN chaplains benefit from professional development through floating to various locations, with flexible, calendar-based scheduling that accommodates other jobs and allows for specific shift requests.

This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working evenings + on-call shifts carrying between 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m. with weekend requirements.

This is a hybrid role covering all Florida locations.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Provide education and consultation for physicians, nurses, and other caregivers.  

Provide spiritual care and counseling for patients, families and caregivers of all faith groups, ages and conditions.  

Provide end-of-life prayers.

Foster spiritual resources for healing.  

Provide crisis and ongoing care.  

Work regular and on-call hours.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:   

Completion of at least four units of Clinical Pastoral Education  

One year of ministry experience  

Satisfactory completion of a minimum of four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education.

OR Bachelor's degree and three years of ministry experience & satisfactory completion of one (1) or two (2) units of Clinical Pastoral Education with expectation to get four (4) CPEs within two (2) years of hire

Certification, or eligibility within two (2) years by a certifying organization or certification as an Association of Clinical Pastor Education (ACPE educator)

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

Master’s degree of divinity or equivalent

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.

Must be able to climb stairs, pull, push and facilitate movement of the patient.

Must have normal or correctable vision and hearing to be able to hear normal conversations.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
