The primary purpose of this position is: To manage the installation Catholic Program and to assist the Wing Chaplain in fulfilling the Chaplain Corps' mission of ministry to the Roman Catholic personnel at the installation. Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the installation Catholic community, ensuring that the Catholic program complies with legal and regulatory requirements and those of AMS and meets customer needs. Represents the organization and the Catholic Community to a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Provider of Roman Catholic worship, liturgy, rites and pastoral care. Chaplain Series 0060 There is no OPM qualification standard for this series. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year at the next lower grade of GS-09 or equivalent in the Federal Service. RECRUITMENT KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Knowledge of Scripture, teachings of the Roman Catholic faith and Canon Law. Knowledge of the role of Catholic clergy in a diverse and pluralistic military religious environment. Ability to oversee a comprehensive Catholic religious education program serving adults and children. Ability to assist in traumatic stress response counseling, pastoral crisis intervention and suicide prevention counseling. Ability to work well with chaplains and religious affairs airmen in an ecumenical/interfaith setting. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing Education Additional Information Air Force Civilian Service Employment Benefits: Paid Time Off: 11 Federal Holidays off per year Vacation time (Annual Leave) accumulates based on length of employment.
