Job Overview:
The Chaplain Resident supports the medical center s commitment to caring for the whole patient by providing spiritual and emotional support to patients, families and staff. They facilitate spirituality groups as assigned. They provide emotional and spirituality groups as assigned. They provide emotional and spiritual support to staff in time of crisis.

Required:
Master of Divinity or equivalentOrdination or commissioning and endorsement for specialized ministry by a recognized faith group of the Association of Professional ChaplainOne prior unit of Clinical Pastoral EducationPreferred:
Excellent communication and pastoral skillsHigh degree of emotional energy and mental alertness, and ability to deal with stress of ministering to patients and loved ones who experience pain, suffering, death and griefDemonstrates organizational and decision making skillsAbility to handle multiple tasksAbility to utilize word processing programsScheduling Requirements:

Provide pastoral care to patients, families and staffAssess spiritual needs of patients and families, and provide or arrange for pastoral care as neededShare in on-call responsibilities outside of regular business hours, i.e. holidays, weekends, evenings and nightsSupport interdisciplinary approach to care by participating in staff and team meetings, rounds, family meetings and other patient care conferences. Respond to referrals in a timely mannerDocument care in CERNER in Pastoral Care Notes and keep records of pastoral care activity to communicate with other members of the department/institutionParticipate in the total program of pastoral/spiritual care in the hospitalInterface with area clergy, pastoral visitors and volunteers from the faith communities, and provide CERNER lists according to hospital policyServe on institutional committees as assignedProvide staff support in times of crisisPromote the interfaith/multifaith nature of hospital chaplaincyDevelop, coordinate and facilitate public worship or other observances appropriate to the diverse hospital setting and needs of the institutionFacilitate and monitor spirituality groups in a way that protects patient s safety and freedom of expression when sharing their views, beliefs and opinionsContact patients/families/religious leaders upon requestConduct self at all times in the manner that reflects positively on the image of the medical centerOther Duties:
