**Job Title: Endoscopy Charge Nurse**
**Reports To: Director of Nursing Services**
**Location: Alabama Endoscopy Center**
**JOB SUMMARY:**
Provides nursing care and manages efficiency of endoscopy suite, including staff scheduling, performance of clinical staff, ensures patient’s needs are met in all situations, ensures consistent, high quality of care provided by nursing team, procures supplies. Oversees reprocessing department, ensuring highest standards are met. Makes decisions regarding direct patient care needs and communicates appropriate information to physicians, patients, family members, and personnel in all departments as well as team members. May have additional responsibilities as designated by the Director of Nursing Services, including but not limited to, serving on committees, participating in quality improvement audits and projects.
**TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:**
+ Physically able to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and maintain varied body motions and positions for long periods of time
+ Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
+ Requires the use of computers, EMR software
+ Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or instruments
+ Requires ability to hear, see and speak
+ Able to move up to 100 pounds
+ Requires the ability to distinguish letters and symbols in the English language
+ Requires working under variable conditions and/or working irregular hours
+ Requires exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids
**TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:**
+ Work is performed in the Procedure Room of the center with involvement with business office and other clinical areas
+ Continuous multi-tasking skills required
+ Significant contact with staff/co-workers, patients and their families, other employers, physicians and their staff, and other members of the health care community
+ Minimal travel may be required.
+ Attend conferences and meetings, as requested/required.
+ Routinely deal with proprietary and confidential information
**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ Monitors performance of all clinical staff and ensures efficient function of the clinical department
+ Provide circulating nurse duties in assigned procedure room
+ Ensures highest level of quality care is provided to all patients
+ Staffing responsibilities include but are not limited to:
+ New staff orientation
+ Ensures nurses and endoscopic techs are cross-trained in all departments
+ Prepares staff schedule in accordance with center guidelines
+ Collaborates with Director of Nursing / Administrator to identify PRN staff candidates, participates in interviews, and performance evaluations of nursing team
+ Patient care responsibilities include but are not limited to:
+ Coordinates patient care activities with surgeons and anesthesia providers to provide continuity of patient care
+ Enforces nursing practice standards and licensing/accreditation rules and regulations to provide quality patient care
+ Recommends revision of patient-care policies and procedures as necessary to conform to accepted principles and practices
+ Responds to emergency situations and maintains competency
+ Analyzes clinical documentation to ensure policies and procedures are followed
+ Ensures adherence to regulatory guidelines
+ Works with center leadership to implement best practices and ensure safety in the workplace
+ Promotes cost containment and efficient use of center resources
**QUALIFICATIONS:**
+ Associates of Applied Science in Nursing (ADN) or above required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing, preferred
+ Current registered nurse licensure in State of employment
+ BLS / ACLS / PALS Certified, as applicable
+ CPAN, CAPA, and / or CNOR, preferred
+ Minimum of 3 years of endoscopy nursing experience in an ambulatory surgery center setting, preferred
+ Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards
+ Maintains regular attendance
