Job Duties:
Responsible for acting as a resource nurse for the department. This is an entry-level leadership nursing position responsible for the coordination of care on designated shifts. The Charge Nurse will provide leadership to the staff members of the unit in the area of patient care. The Charge Nurse will work alongside the team and provide direct patient care while determining needed staffing fluctuations during shifts, responding to departmental concerns, address immediate staff issues and coordinate patient flow. The CN has immediate oversight of employees while performing the same or directly related work as those the position leads.
About the Unit:
Surgical Inpatient Services also known as SIPS is a 32-bed unit specializing in inpatient care for post-surgical patients. LPNs and RNs work with a variety of surgical patients including total joint replacements, bariatric surgeries, and care for higher acuity cases such as post-surgical vascular and thoracic patients. The unit also accepts post-operative admissions originating from areas such as the emergency room or a physician’s office.
Qualifications:
Graduate of an approved nursing program, holding a minimum of an ASN.
Current Indiana or compact state RN license.
BLS for Healthcare provider required.
One year of nursing experience required; One year of experience in area of specialty preferred.
Professional/Specialty certification required as per unit/department standards.
