Job Description Faststream is currently searching for an experienced MPP or dry bulk Chartering Manager to join a successful and expanding Ship Operator in Dubai.
Role Overview:
Location: Dubai
Focus: Independently handling project cargo or dry bulk chartering, developing new client relationships, and ensuring profitable fixtures through market analysis and vessel optimisation.
Key Responsibilities for Dry Bulk Chartering:
Market Analysis & Fixture Management:
Analyse freight markets, including vessel and cargo trades, to maximise team value and secure short-term and spot charters for dry bulk. Support the Project Team in booking space for break bulk cargo and managing multipurpose vessel (MPP) return legs. Oversee vessel P&L performance with Operations, ensuring all transactions align with company policies. Provide market data and analysis, reporting on freight fixtures relative to market trends. Client Relationship & Business Development:
Manage and strengthen existing customer relationships, and proactively identify new business opportunities within dry bulk. Maintain strong broker relationships and support the regional teams to attract and engage potential clients. Scheduling & Operations Support:
Work closely with Operations to coordinate vessel ETAs, manage ship performance, and utilise freight knowledge for accurate voyage calculations. Assist with vessel scheduling to ensure operational efficiency and optimal space utilisation. Contract & Advisory Services:
Offer advisory support on contract reviews and commercial planning. Source, negotiate, and secure contracts for dry bulk cargo, ensuring compliance with COA (Contract of Affreightment) requirements. Utilise FFA (Forward Freight Agreements) for hedging to safeguard voyage profitability. For Project Chartering Development:
Align project chartering initiatives with the company’s strategic growth objectives, securing MPP project solutions with internal engineering team support. Provide competitive pricing and operational solutions for project cargoes, and monitor vessel space and availability to meet project demands. Key Qualifications: Extensive experience in shipping, ideally with multipurpose vessel operations or dry bulk commercial experience. Strong understanding of international trade routes, dry bulk cargo flow, and vessel supply. Established network with clients, brokers, and ship owners in dry bulk and industrial project logistics. Excellent communication, relationship-building, and team collaboration skills. Highly self-motivated with a strong sense of responsibility. Fluent in English; Bachelor’s degree or higher.
