Chassis Automation Engineer

Machinery & Equipment Body Chassis Marriage & Chassis Automation Cell Engineers are the leads on decking, BCM, frame turnover chassis systems and development of new tooling strategies and technologies for monument chassis cells. Scope can expand beyond to additional chassis tooling if additional resources are needed and if skill set aligns. Machinery & Equipment is a cradle to grave organization. Engineers study new future programs, budget cost, space protect and develop new tooling scopes and strategies. Engineers are responsible for managing the design & build of the tooling until reaching tooling buyoff, then engineer will take equipment through installation phase in plant until achieve yellow protag buyoff and handing off to their customer. Team is expected to know industry standards for commodity and continuously benchmark industry trends to applications and use cases to integrate into future model manufacturing plans, provide innovative solutions to enable product and process enhancements. Tooling Development Engineers have responsibility for the following commodities: · Body Chassis Marriage · Frame Turnover · Body Decking · VIN Stamping · Robotic Tire & Wheel Decking Tooling strategies **What you'll do…** Responsibilities: + Design and develop manufacturing process flows and optimization strategies to achieve efficiency improvements + Design, implement, and optimize automation cells to enhance manufacturing operations. + Identify areas within final assembly where robotic automation can be applied + Work with product development to drive product enablers to allow for automated assembly + Support tooling design and build with supplier interface team (VIS) + Create new standards for automation + Develop scope of works for chassis automation tooling and deliver program specific SOWs for automated tooling solutions + Manage tier 1 suppliers to ensure on time delivery for tooling to master schedule + Install, debug and commission tooling (automation/robotic chassis cells) on-time and on budget + Program and troubleshoot collaborative robots and industrial robots, incorporating robot simulation, tool design, and robot path planning + Facilitate design review sessions and lead PFMEA activities and static/dynamic assessments to identify and mitigate risks in the manufacturing process. + Prepare and deliver technical presentation and demonstration for leadership reviews and program team reviews + Collaborate with teams at MTD, MP&L, VOME and other stakeholders to identify, define, and validate requirements and KPIs for automated processes. **You'll have...** + Minimum of college or equivalent technology degree in Engineering, robotics application, Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering or manufacturing degree + 5-10 years experience with equipment respective tooling/equipment + 2+ years up front experience (content/SOW definition, design reviews, build at supplier shops) + 2+ years experience supporting in plant implementation of respective equipment + Programs + Aurora + SCAAF/PFMEA + Teamcenter VPS You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!
