Chassis Technician - Level II
**DESCRIPTION** We are looking for a talented **Chassis Technician** to join our team specializing in **Services, Maintenance and Diagnostics** for our **Service Ops Administration & Management Department** in **Kathu, South Africa** **In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways** : + Efficient Diagnostics and Repairs: By completing diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on chassis products with limited supervision, you'll ensure vehicles are back in service quickly and reliably. + Adherence to Procedures: Applying documented procedures and policies to complex repairs will maintain high standards and consistency in the workshop. + Component Care: Disassembling, cleaning, and inspecting chassis components will help identify issues early and extend the lifespan of the parts. + Preventative Maintenance: Performing preventative maintenance based on assessments will reduce the likelihood of unexpected breakdowns and improve overall vehicle performance. + Team Collaboration: Assisting more experienced technicians with diagnostics and repair plans will enhance team efficiency and knowledge sharing. + Accurate Documentation: Completing required documentation accurately will ensure proper tracking of work, time, and warranty claims, contributing to operational transparency and accountability. + Continuous Learning: Engaging in training aligned with skill and business requirements will keep you updated with the latest techniques and technologies, enhancing your expertise. + Safety and Cleanliness: Maintaining a clean and properly functioning work area and adhering to Health, Safety & Environmental policies will create a safer and more efficient workplace. **RESPONSIBILITIES** **To be successful in this role you will need the following:** + Strong Diagnostic Skills: The ability to translate customer complaints into effective troubleshooting plans and use specialized tools and software to isolate and resolve issues accurately. + Proficiency with Electronic Tools: Familiarity with the suite of hardware and software tools required for service events, and the ability to interpret their results to determine the next steps for service resolution. + Comprehensive System Knowledge: A deep understanding of the interactions between various engine systems (electrical, mechanical, exhaust, fuel, etc.) to diagnose and repair issues efficiently. + Attention to Detail and Documentation: The capability to follow repair guidelines meticulously, document all troubleshooting and repair steps accurately, and maintain a clean and organized work environment. **QUALIFICATIONS** **Education/ Experience** + Apprentice Trained Technician (Preferred). + Locally valid driving permit + This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. + Minimum of N2 certificate mechanical. + Minimum of 2 years working experience post apprentice. + Diesel mechanic trade test certificate or millwright trade test certificate. + Experience working on engines. **Job** Service **Organization** Cummins Inc. **Role Category** On-site **Job Type** Technician **ReqID** 2408361 **Relocation Package** No
