About the role:

Downer is seeking a motivated and skilled Chef to join our Patient Food Services team at the Royal Adelaide Hospital on a full-time basis! As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for producing high-quality patient food menu items that align with nutritional standards, ensuring patient satisfaction, and adhering to food safety protocols. 

Key Responsibilities: Prepare and produce food items as directed by the Executive Chef, ensuring adherence to menu and quality standards. Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, food storage areas, and personal workspace; ensure effective waste management. Ensure all food safety protocols are followed, including compliance with HACCP, FSANZ standards, and SA Food Act. Monitor food storage to ensure correct rotation (FIFO), prevent cross-contamination, and maintain correct temperatures for perishable items. Collaborate with the Patient Food Services Manager and Executive Chef to ensure smooth operation of kitchen services and manage stock control. About you: Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (essential); Food Safety and/or HACCP certifications (desirable). Previous experience in a healthcare environment, with an understanding of patient dietary needs and nutritional standards. Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices, including HACCP protocols. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team. Ability to manage time efficiently and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality.
