Job Description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a talented and passionate Chef de Partie – Baker to join our dynamic culinary team at Kona Village, A Rosewood Resort. The ideal candidate will be an experienced baker with a strong background in artisan breads, breakfast pastries, and laminated doughs, bringing both creativity and precision to every aspect of our pastry program. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will play an essential role in elevating our guests’ dining experience by creating exceptional baked goods and ensuring the highest standards of quality and presentation.

Key Responsibilities:

Artisan Breads: Prepare, bake, and present a wide range of artisan breads, ensuring consistency in texture, flavor, and appearance.

Breakfast Pastries: Create a variety of freshly baked breakfast pastries, including croissants, Danish pastries, scones, muffins, and more, meeting the luxury standards of our resort.

Laminated Doughs: Expertly prepare laminated doughs (croissant dough, puff pastry, etc.) using traditional methods, ensuring optimal layers and texture.

Product Quality: Ensure that all bakery products meet the highest standards of taste, presentation, and quality, maintaining consistency across all batches.

Menu Collaboration: Work closely with the Pastry Chef and Executive Chef to create seasonal offerings and special pastry selections tailored to the resort’s clientele.

Inventory Management: Assist in the monitoring and ordering of ingredients to ensure proper stock levels for daily operations, minimizing waste and maximizing efficiency.

Hygiene & Safety: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and organized work environment at all times.

Training & Mentorship: Support junior bakers and kitchen staff by providing guidance, training, and maintaining a positive, collaborative work atmosphere.

Qualifications:

Proven experience as a professional baker, with a minimum of 3-5 years in a high-end or luxury resort hotel, restaurant, or similar environment.

Expertise in artisan bread-making, laminated doughs, and breakfast pastries.

Strong understanding of baking techniques, ingredient quality, and proper equipment use.

Creative flair and passion for producing beautiful, high-quality baked goods.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining attention to detail.

Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.

Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices for kitchen hygiene.

Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Culinary degree or equivalent formal training is preferred but not required.
