 Sodexo is currently seeking a Chef Supervisor at Merville Barracks, Colchester, CO2 7UT to join our dedicated catering team and oversee the efficient delivery of food services across multiple onsite locations. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced chef looking to take on a leadership role and make a meaningful impact on service quality.

 

What you’ll do: 

Operational Oversight: Assist the catering leads in delivering high-quality services to the client organisation, ensuring all service specifications are met across multiple locations.Team Leadership: Supervise and motivate a team of chefs, providing guidance, training, and development opportunities to foster a high-performing team.Skill Development: Continue to develop your own skills and knowledge, including completing any required training courses.Client & Customer Relations: Maintain excellent relationships with clients and customers, ensuring satisfaction and high service standards.Shift Supervision: Oversee the shift, ensuring smooth operations and making decisions to guarantee effective service delivery.Hygiene & Safety: Maintain high levels of personal hygiene, ensure work areas are clean and tidy, and adhere to all health and safety standards, including temperature checks and food safety protocols.Resource Management: Monitor the use of ingredients and materials, managing food costs and waste effectively to maintain budgetary targets.Menu & Recipe Management: Understand and follow menu planning and ensure the team adheres to recipes, recording and managing food on the Line system.Food Preparation & Presentation: Provide catering services, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation, while ensuring compliance with all legislative and company requirements.Operational Support: Deputise for the Head Chef during absences and support across the site, including food storage and disposal processes.Team Collaboration: Participate in team briefs, meetings, and performance reviews, ensuring consistent communication and ongoing service improvements.

What you bring:

Previous experience in a catering operational role.Ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Attention to detail and commitment to adhering to service standards.Knowledge of Health & Safety and Food Safety regulations.Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).One of the following qualifications or equivalent: BSC (Catering), MHCIM, HND, City and Guild 706/1 and 2, NVQ Level 2 and 3, or intermediate-level food safety certification.

Desirable:

Experience working in a military environment.
