Johnson Service Group is an award-winning staffing agency that is looking for a Chemical Engineer 3-5 years experience who comes out of an Aerospace environment. This a Direct hire Position with an Aerospace company in Oxnard, CA.
Pay Rate: 130K
This position is responsible for managing assigned tasks and projects, designs and develops products, develops and performs energetic material processes, develops product assembly processes, and performs various forms of analysis within the product line. This position will be responsible for customer and supplier liaison, product design, tool design, energetic material process development and operation, safety analyses, assembly process development, testing, analyses and manufacturing support for defense-aerospace pyrotechnic devices. This position will require the coordination with various stakeholders including customers, suppliers, and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. It will also be involved in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues that arise during the assigned project life cycle.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Creates product designs, assembly instructions for products and acceptance test procedures Develops and operates energetic material processes Participates in Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Reviews (CDR) and Production Readiness Reviews (PRR) with the customer and internal teams, including preparation of design review materials Prepares test plans, designed experiments, test procedures and test reports Prepares technical proposals and cost estimates for bid to customers Conducts timely and accurate technical compliance reviews for production orders Works development programs in accordance with the company procedures. Performs various types of engineering analyses, including process hazard, tolerance, stress, electrical, thermal, ballistic and statistical, as trained and capable Prepares and approves Engineering Change Orders (ECO’s) Conducts and documents failure analyses, using scientific and structured problem-solving techniques Prepares information requested or needed by customers or suppliers, as guided Engineering management Reviews and approves in-process and Lot Acceptance Test (LAT) reports Supports the ongoing work of the Material Review Board (MRB), when needed Contributes to maintaining a safe and healthy working environment within the facility and in its operations. Provides technical assistance to Production personnel, as needed Performs other related tasks as assigned by Engineering management Interfaces with Principal Engineers, Designers, Test Technicians, production personnel, suppliers, marketing and sales personnel or others on engineering issues. Prepares layout of new or old designs as needed and makes drawings of detailed parts and assemblies. Performs other related duties as required. Adhere to aerospace industry regulations, quality standards, and best practices through the design and development process. SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Ability to read and accurately interpret drawings and specifications Ability to develop and consistently perform chemical processes safely An interest in learning about the aerospace industry and pyrotechnic devices A knowledge or interest in developing energetic material processes An intrinsic willingness to learn from and respect management and co-workers Ability to interpret test data and draw logical scientific conclusions Consistently follows company standards and procedures Hands-on design experience in mechanical, electro-mechanical and/or hydraulic components Basic understanding of materials and processing specs Experience creating part and assembly drawings and part lists Twenty-twenty or corrected eye sight Adequate hearing, natural or corrected, for normal conversation Fluent verbal and written English language communication The ability to pass the BATFE ‘Employee Possessor’ screening ADDITIONAL DESIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Strong in communication skills with suppliers, customers, and internal departments Knowledge of Aerospace and Military standards Prior experience with energetic material processing, aerospace methods and pyrotechnic devices GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis Understanding of machining and machine shop practices Experience with Solidworks or similar CAD platform Experience with production assembly and test Product lifecycle management (PLM) using Enovia, TeamCenter, or Windchill Familiarity with production and test documents, ATP, QTP, QTR
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university. Prior engineering experience is a plus, with 3 to 5 years being ideal PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Working Conditions: The majority of the time will be spent in an engineering office environment with little noise. The balance of time will be spent in the manufacturing, Chemistry Lab, or Test Lab around chemicals, energetic materials and machinery. Meetings are occasionally required at customer and supplier sites and some travel is required. Physical Demands: In the office environment, will be sitting and working on the computer and telephone. Potential of some light lifting during normal work activities. Will also be working in the production area and will be exposed to various production materials.
