**Overview** Storion Energy is a joint venture between Stryten Energy and Largo inc. and is at the forefront of commercializing Vanadium Redox Flow Batteries (VRFBs) within the United States. Largo is a vanadium mining company with the only western-friendly vanadium mine in the world, located in Brazil. VRFB LDES products help address renewable energy intermittency issues, provide grid resiliency, and enable a cleaner electricity grid. **Responsibilities** The Chemical Engineering Co-op will support Storion’s product development team with a focus on our electrochemistry development needs. This individual will support our lab-scale and pilot-scale systems which may include investigating performance of our VRFB cells and stacks, determining electrolyte properties and performance, developing processing techniques and operations for eventual scale-up, and working on other projects as needs arise. Storion’s product development facility is located in Wilmington, MA and we are seeking a full-time co-op to support our cutting edge product development efforts. This is an in-person role and the successful candidate is expected to be in the office 5 days per week. Essential functions may include: + Working on product development + Hands on testing in the electrochemical lab and shop floor + Operation of pilot scale equipment and machinery + Data collection, processing, and analysis + Chemical Process design, control, and operation development + Kinetics determination and modeling + Unit operation design/equipment specification + Process documentation + Statistical process control + Root cause analysis + Material compatibility testing + Many more exciting and challenging experiences **Qualifications** + Working towards BS in Chemical Engineering or BA/BS in Chemistry + Minimum GPA of 3.0 + You must have housing and transportation to our Wilmington, MA location. Public transportation is not available to our office. + You must be able and willing to work with battery electrolyte, which is acidic and requires wearing PPE (lab coat, gloves, safety glasses or goggles, and other job-specific PPE) + Ability to lift 30-pound boxes of parts We expect our co-ops to be hands on self-starters who can take a project from start to finish with ease. The successful candidate should already have excellent problem solving, communication, and teamwork skills that can be applied to cross-functional teams. The individual should be skilled at problem identification, prototyping and iterative design, validation testing, and troubleshooting. Our environment is casual but professional and our co-op's are exposed to senior level leaders.
