Job SummaryBattelle’s Advanced Materials and Energetics Group is seeking to hire a Chemical Engineer. Work will be varied however the selected candidate will be expected to perform advanced research and analysis, contribute to Internal Research & Development projects, support business development, and communicate with internal and external clients. This position is located in Columbus, OH.
Responsibilities Performs complex assignments by compiling and evaluating design and test data, preparing technical specifications, analyzing technical data to determine appropriate limits and variables for product, process or materials specifications.Analyzes and interprets data collected. Prepares technical reports and makes presentations to client, both formal and informal.Conducts and/or leads small technical projects or phases of technical projects. May provide technical direction to and coordinate the efforts of engineers and technical support staff in the performance of assigned projects within time and budget constraints.Assists with proposal efforts. May prepare technical sections of proposals with review.Builds relationships with internal and external clients and presents research results. Communicates with clients on smaller projects regarding the schedule and quality of deliverables.Contributes to IR&D studies. Prepares invention disclosures and may provide inputs for new areas of business.Supports business development efforts led by others and secures follow-on work. May assist with the coordination of and participation in Battelle-sponsored conferences.May participate in scientific conferences, peer review panels, and increases company visibility through publications.Oversees, mentors and trains lower-level staff.Key Qualifications B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering or related field with 5 years of experience, M.S. in related field with 3 years of experience, or PhD.U.S. Citizenship is required.Candidates may be requested to submit to a background check for obtaining clearances for classified government projects.Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to represent Battelle or its clients at conferences or public forums. Good laboratory and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications PhD in Chemical Engineering or related field.Experience in engineering model development.Experience using computer programming to analyze complex data sets (ex: Python, Matlab).
