The Chemical Operator III will play a critical role in supporting Clariant's Care Chemicals Business Unit by independently operating production processes, troubleshooting equipment, and driving operational excellence. This position ensures the safe and efficient production of specialty chemical products while maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards. This role requires working in an industrial environment with exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, and hazardous materials. All necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and training will be provided, and compliance with safety protocols is mandatory. This position is a full time, onsite opportunity in Mt. Holly, NC. Responsibilities
• Operate all production processes independently in their assigned plant(s), including:
• GLR, SSR, and Safewing (Plant 5); Alkox and Hi-Temp (Plant 4); DEET and SCI (Plant 3)
• Serve as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting and resolving plant issues
• Be thoroughly familiar with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and assist with revisions as needed
• Proactively anticipate production needs, such as preparing raw materials and packaging finished products, to prevent delays
• Perform lockout/tagout procedures on equipment, including valve removal and vessel entry
• Write and issue hot work permits as required
• Assist with training employees on plant systems and processes
• Identify and implement process and equipment improvement ideas
• Restart plant equipment and utilities following power outages
• Hold confined space certification and perform tasks requiring this qualification
Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior chemical industry experience is a plus
• Basic computer proficiency
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills to be an effective part of a dynamic team
• High attention to detail to maintain safety, quality, and efficiency
• Transparent and effective communication to support smooth operations and problem resolution
• Proactive approach to identifying and addressing operational needs and improvements
