Chemical Operator (Union)

Position Title: Chemical Operator (UNION)

Rate: Per Union contract-- current full rate of Technician A is $33.68/ hour  *For new external hires a training rate of 95% of full rate applies until benchmarks are completed then moves to full hourly rate. Savannah Union benefits are also in effect.

Hours:  Shift to be determined based on production demand.  Likely Monday- Friday. 40 hours per week with potential for overtime. Shift differential may apply dependent on area of work.

Position Requirements:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required as a minimum

Desired Experience: Seeking a safety conscious person with prior experience in chemical manufacturing including blending and packaging finished product.  Ability to safely operate a powered industrial truck needed, knowledge of DOT regulations and mechanical troubleshooting helpful.  Ability to perform manual labor including walking, movement up and down stairs, standing for periods, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

Personal Knowledge: Computer Skills (Word, Excel, Email application such as Outlook), SAP experience helpful

Personal Skills: Excellent communication and organizational skills, a sense of urgency with the ability to prioritize work, and the mind-set for safety and attention to detail.  Ability to work as a strong team member in a high performance team environment. 

Principal Accountabilities/ Activities:

Work with other team members to meet daily production through charging raw materials and overseeing the production process to manufacture finished productMeet shipping needs by labeling and packaging products in required containersMay assist with loading/ unloading raw materials and loading tanker trucks or box trucks with finished product for shipments to customersPerform bench top laboratory analysis to verify in-process product quality using standard test methodsRecord data carefully and completely in both written and electronic formatsCommunicate accurately, timely and completelyMaintain equipment through routine calibration and preventative maintenance activities to include area inspections, equipment inspections and entry of work orders as neededParticipate on plant teams as requestedMaintain safety and order of work area through daily housekeeping activitiesManage all chemicals and waste (hazardous and nonhazardous) in accordance to RCRA regulation and the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard.
