Chemours is seeking a Chemical Process Engineer to join our growing Manufacturing Technology team! This position will report directly to the Technical Manager at our DeLisle Plant in Pass Christian, MS.  The site is a key asset in the Chemours supply chain for the Titanium Technologies Business.

The Chemical Process Engineer provides technical support to TiO2 manufacturing operations to maintain production performance or restore process capability. Process engineers work closely with technology managers, chemical process engineers, mechanical reliability engineers, chemists, and operations teams to upgrade products and processes by implementing modifications ranging from incremental daily improvements to technology advancements.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Provide technical support in the day-to-day operation of the plant, including process monitoring and optimization, data analysis, interacting with operating technicians, troubleshooting process and equipment issues and impacts on product quality, and identification and implementation of improvement opportunities.

Provide technical expertise for project design work to ensure its compliance with specifications, engineering standards, and quality assurance.

Design and supervise plant tests in alignment with the strategic direction provided by the technical manager and plant and business leaders and to solve/explain issues observed in the manufacturing process, to optimize the process, and to implement new products.

Provide process engineering expertise on unit operations such as reactors, heat and mass transfer, mixing systems, filtration technologies, gas-solids separation, gas burners and drying technologies, bulk solids handling, etc.

Develop and implement incremental improvements and/or new technologies to improve the safety, quality, cost of manufacture, and environmental impact of the production facility. 

Provide guidance to Operations regarding safe operating limits for process equipment; ensure process safety information is accurate and up to date; lead Process Hazard Analysis review sessions; evaluate changes for compliance with Management of Change program requirements, including training; and understand and support Process Safety Management site objectives.

Provide internal technical product support for different product offerings.

Lead site improvements from definition and research of opportunities, through laboratory and plant testing, and ultimately to implementation.

Update, review and approve process technology documents such as operating procedures and drawings in order to meet PSM and Corporate standards.

Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for product quality upsets.

Analyze equipment and process trends, historical data, and key process indicators to recommend and justify improvements to obtain lowest cost of manufacture.

The following is required for this role:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an ABET accredited institution in Chemical Engineering or related field.

Demonstrated ability to apply technical knowledge to diagnose, troubleshoot, and solve problems.

Capability to lead and work in diverse cross-functional teams with high degree of initiative and self-motivation and flexibility to monitor and move projects forward quickly and safely.

Capability to adapt well to a fast-paced working environment of rapidly evolving, complex and time-sensitive projects.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Strong computational and statistical data analysis skills.

The following is preferred for this role:

Engineering experience in a chemical manufacturing setting (includes co-op/internship experience)

Working knowledge of any of the following: data analytics and statistics using tools like 6-Sigma, Design of Experiments, Minitab, SEEQ, Power BI, MS Excel; statistical process control for quality management; Root Cause Analysis; process engineering modeling tools (Aspen, Fathom, etc.)

Pay Range (in local currency):

$81,715.00 - $127,680.00

Annual Bonus Target:

6%

The incentive pay is dependent on business results and individual performance and subject to the terms and conditions of the specific plans.
