Set-up and operate chemical process equipment, and ensure the equipment is working efficiently and producing quality materials.
Day-to-Day Role:
Follow and commit to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for safety, quality, production, efficiency, and service requirements Follow practices and processes intended to provide safe products that comply with appropriate laws and regulations, meet the company quality standards Follow and commit to safety and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) Set up, start, adjust, test, diagnose, troubleshoot and properly shut down chemical process equipment in accordance with schedules and specifications Operate and control the chemical process of transforming raw material into the finished product, ensuring quality and consistency Adjust equipment as needed to maximize up time, rates and yields Monitor process area and process equipment Make chemical additions as needed Test final product to ensure compliance with specifications Troubleshoot and fix equipment and/or material problems Diagnose and change out defective parts Implement programs to standardize and minimize production changeovers and machine downtime Perform general preventative maintenance on equipment (i.e. fill lube lines, lube chain rails, grease guns, etc.) as required Maintain documentation and reports as required Promptly notify the Maintenance Department of any maintenance required Notify supervisor of significant deviations from normal operating conditions Direct Chemical Process Operator 1 and Machine Operators as required Serve as technical resource for less experienced operators Train other Chemical Process Operators as required Perform processes in SAP as required
Core Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:
Three (3) years of experience in plumbing / machine maintenance AND/OR Two (2) years of experience in chemical/QC analysis AND/OR Post-secondary technical degree/certificate in manufacturing, machine maintenance, chemistry, or similar. One (1) year of computer experience required One (1) year Powered Industrial Equipment (PIT) experience required Math skills to include simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division Familiar with and ability to convert decimals to fractions or vice versa Experience using Microsoft Office, including the ability to create reports, documents, and spreadsheets in MS Word and MS Excel Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic problems including knowledge of machines and tools, their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance Ability to observe, follow, understand, and evaluate processes demonstrated and other workplace procedures Ability to obtain and maintain PIT certification Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issuesPreferred Skills and Qualifications:
