Chemical Research Analyst (Part-Time Contractor)
S&P Global Commodity Insights The Role: Analyst (Chemicals – Database Management) The Team: You will be working in the Assets Team in Tokyo. The team has over 15 members mainly based in Gurgaon, Houston and Shanghai. The Impact: Database Management Analyst updates information about chemical manufacturing companies contained in Chemical Assets database for both internal use and publication to clients. All work will be done in English. Collaborate with global product experts to validate plant capacity information. Research producers, plant locations and capacity data for chemical and petrochemical projects both in China and internationally. Monitor trade literature for changes to company information (e.g., company name, ownership, plant locations, chemicals manufactured, start-ups, expansions, closures, etc.) Contact chemical companies to verify and develop information and to resolve research questions as needed. Update Chemical Assets database to reflect changes. Efficiency, accuracy, and attention to detail are essential since data changes will go live to clients on a daily basis. Respond quickly to questions needed for client inquiries or upcoming publication deadlines. What We’re Looking For: A degree of Bachelor in Science (Chemistry or Biological Sciences preferred) or equivalent experience a plus Prior experience with 1-3 years of full-time working, preferably in a detail-oriented environment Native level in Japanese and fluent in English Knowledgeable in chemical and petrochemical industry is a plus Flexible Working (optional) We pride ourselves on our agility and diversity, and we welcome requests to work flexibly.
