This position may require some bending, lifting, climbing, prolonged sitting, prolonged walking, walking on gravel or crawling when necessary.

Job Title: Chemical Technician
Work Location: Wilsonville, AL 35186
Requirements:
Required PPE: Respirator (Fit Test), Hard hat, Safety toe shoes, safety vest, safety glasses or if they wear glasses - side shields, full face respirator and cartridges, and harness for fall protection as needed. At the site, they use 3M Full face 6000 series respirators with cartridges for Ammonia and Organic vapor/acid gas cartridges. They also change cartridges as they unload or make/break connections. BS degree in Chemistry or other field of science with a MINIMUM of 12 semester hours in Chemistry required and Chemical Technician experience with power plant or industrial experience This position requires call-outs and overtime as needed. Candidates must be available for evening or night shifts, overtime, weekend, and holiday work as required.
Prior experience and knowledge of boiler/water analysis preferred Previous work experience in a water treatment plant preferred Experience and competency in the use, calibration and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation/equipment; knowledge of proper analytical methods and techniques Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred Familiarity with mechanical parts and repair is preferred Knowledge and experience in the production of deionized water is preferred Recognize changes in color for titrations Water treatment and chemical analysis of water and wastewater, fuels, coal ash, and petroleum products Provides chemical protection of the steam-generating equipment to minimize outages due to corrosion and deposits in steam cycle components, thereby reducing efficiency loss and the potential need for replacement of steam-generating, condensing, and turbine mechanical components Ensures compliance with governmental environmental regulations regarding water discharges and compiles, evaluates, and reports statistical data pertaining to plant performance and productivity Operate and maintain water treatment plants for the production of demineralized and service water and assist in maintaining an onsite sewage treatment plant Perform analytical testing of boiler water chemistry and scrubber absorber chemistry Responsibilities include the calibration and maintenance of equipment related to these areas and performing minor maintenance activities such as lubrication Required to perform Hazmat team member duties, including respirator qualification, to unload hazardous liquid and gaseous chemicals
