Chemical Technician

System One is currently seeking a Chemical Technician on a 3 year contract position located in Wilsonville, AL. 

Chemical Technician Responsibilities: 

Performs technical and analytical services essential to the operation of a fossil fuel power plant. These services include water treatment and chemical analysis of water and wastewater, fuels, coal ash, and petroleum products. Provides chemical protection of the steam-generating equipment to minimize outages due to corrosion and deposits in steam cycle components, thereby reducing efficiency loss and the potential need for replacement of steam-generating, condensing, and turbine mechanical components. Ensures compliance with governmental environmental regulations regarding water discharges and compiles, evaluates, and reports statistical data pertaining to plant performance and productivity. Operate and maintain water treatment plants for the production of demineralized and service water and assist in maintaining an onsite sewage treatment plant. Perform analytical testing of boiler water chemistry and scrubber absorber chemistry Calibration and maintenance of equipment related to these areas and performing minor maintenance activities such as lubrication. Required to perform Hazmat team member duties, including respirator qualification, to unload hazardous liquid and gaseous chemicals.
Chemical Technician Requirements:  Candidates must have a BS degree in Chemistry or a related field with a minimum of 12 semester hours in chemistry. Prior experience and knowledge of boiler/water analysis are preferred. Previous work experience in a water treatment plant and knowledge and experience in the production of deionized water are also preferred. Experience and competency in the use, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation/equipment, as well as knowledge of proper analytical methods and techniques, are desirable. Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment is preferred. This position requires call-outs and overtime as needed. Candidates must be available for evening or night shifts, overtime, weekend, and holiday work as required. They must also be able to recognize changes in color for titrations.

Pay Rate:
Level 1- $28/hr 
Level 2- $35/hr 
Level 3- $37/hr
