The Chemist is to conduct both simple and complex routine laboratory testing of raw materials, in process products, finished dose products, stability samples, environmental samples and water samples while maintaining a high standard of Good Laboratory Practice.  Exercise scientific judgment and rationale to conduct analytical testing and investigations using techniques and methods which adhere to the standard operating procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

Simple and complex routine laboratory testing of pharmaceutical productsWrite simple laboratory investigations and reportsEnsure the application of sound scientific principles in laboratory work – documenting and performing analytical testingSupport and encourage continuous improvement initiatives for the benefit of the Quality department and the wider businessEnsure activities comply with GMP, legal and ethical standardsProvide insight and apply creativity to challenging situationsPlan, monitor and achieve goals within set time framesProvide, build and maintain consistent, reliable and accurate customer servicePerform other duties as required by managementCommunicate and endorse safety practices, monitor key safety performance indicators and visibly participate in promoting safety policies and initiatives

Job Requirements:

Tertiary qualification in Science (with a minimum of 8 relevant chemistry units)Understanding of GMP requirements is highly desirableAbility to read and follow prescribed and detailed procedures to comply with GxPCan understand technical documents and can communicate description of problems and solutionsAbility to build rapport, establish and maintain relationships with peers, business contacts, and corporate managementAbility to effectively manage time and meet deadlines and targets with competing and conflicting prioritiesDemonstrated attention to detail and extensive technical knowledge and ability is essential in this roleSound judgement and decision making skills
