Chemist - Analytical Characterization & Texture Science

Ingredion is hiring for the position of Chemist, Analytical Characterization & Texture Science (ACTS) to support multiple New Product Development and Applied Research Projects related to plant-based protein ingredients. The ACTS team is focused on the development and utilization of analytical methods to support new product development, technical service, marketing, and manufacturing. The Chemist will be responsible for the execution of experiments using a variety of analytical chemistry techniques to support Global Research and Development projects.

Core Responsibilities

Conduct experiments at direction of supervisor to characterize plant-based protein ingredient structure and functionalityAssist in the interpretation of data to understand relationships between structure, function, and application performance in food & beverageWork collaboratively with cross-functional teams such as Process Technology, Chemistry, Applications, Sensory and Technical Service to evaluate new ingredientsWork collaboratively to develop new protein characterization methods that evaluate potential of ingredient in various food and beverage applicationsCollect data to validate analytical methods and to screen critical manufacturing processesCommunicate results to core team in both oral and written formMaintain and record daily laboratory activitiesActively seek guidance and feedback from supervisors as well as explore development and improvement opportunities (training, varied assignments, etc.)Carry out scheduled standardization and calibration of lab analytical equipmentOperate according to standard safety procedures and policies

Qualified Candidates Will Have

Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry or related fieldGood mathematical skills and familiarity with analytical quantitative calculationsComputer skills with proficiency using MS Word and ExcelAbility to effectively communicate with cross-functional teams, both oral and writtenGood organizational skills and abilityKnowledge of plant-based protein chemistry is highly preferred

Pay Range:

$65,000.00-$86,666.67 Annual

This pay range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Final base salary will be determined based on several factors which may include but are not limited to responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data and applicable bargaining agreement (if any).

Incentive Compensation:

As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Ingredion Annual Incentive Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus.
