Position Description
Field based quality control Chemist for the Watson Terminal laboratory in Long Beach, CA.
The Chemist is responsible for performing detailed analytical testing on hydrocarbon products such as gasoline, diesel military jet fuel and transmix products to ensure regulatory compliance. Testing must follow CARB, EPA and/or ASTM test methods.
Test various petroleum products in accordance with ASTM methodologies including but not limited to: ASTM D6377, ASTM D4052, ASTM D7536, ASTM D86, ASTM D7094, and ASTM D5972.
+ Preventive maintenance, calibration and minor repair of all laboratory equipment as needed to test gasoline and diesel, certify military jet fuel.
+ Maintain supporting documentation for all testing, calibration and maintenance programs.
+ Communicate with delivering pipeline personnel to arrange off-site sample collection for analysis.
+ Maintain laboratory integrity and apply proper housekeeping procedures.
+ Perform calibration checks, preventative maintenance and minor repair of laboratory equipment.
+ Coordinate oversight programs with third party laboratories and work with Quality Control Manager to manage monthly expenses
+ Perform other duties as requested or assigned
Position Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree
• 3-5 years of prior experience in the petroleum or chemical industry; refinery experience a plus
• Third Party Laboratory Information System initiation, customization, and training experience a plus
• General chemistry knowledge and/or experience • Satisfactory driving record as determined by the Company and maintain insurability by company carrier

Compensation:
Pay range is $69,700 to $120,000 annually. This position includes a discretionary annual incentive plan. Job level and pay commensurate with experience and skill set.
