DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Duties include, but are not limited to: 1. Collects and prepares routine and special samples of solid, liquid or gaseous materials in accordance with approved chemistry procedures or work plans including effluent samples prior to their discharge to the environment. 2. Performs skilled, qualitative and quantitative chemical and radio-chemical analyses of solid, liquid and gaseous samples, utilizing laboratory apparatus and electronic analytical equipment, evaluates, calculates, and records results and reports unusual or abnormal findings. 3. Assists in the preparation of procedures and validates these procedures in the field. 4. Performs less complex surveillance procedures. These surveillances typically are performed by a single individual. 5. Records data in graphical and/or tabular form as required. 6. Performs various tests, checks, calibrations, monitoring, or repairs to chemistry lab instruments, counting equipment and inline process instrumentation as directed. Makes records of these actions as required. 7. Sets up, dismantles, cleans and/or decontaminates chemistry and counting equipment and related facilities as necessary or as directed. 8. Inspects new materials and equipment to ensure the items are not damaged and the correct items have been received. Completes electronic receipt of items. 9. Maintains adequate stock of and prepares all reagents, equipment, standard solutions and chemicals. 10. Sets up analytical apparatus or equipment, as directed. 11. Follows pertinent radiological safety practices during the collection, preparation, analysis and disposal of samples. Operates radiation and contamination detection 008732 Page 2 instruments and other related equipment in support of Chemistry sampling activities as specified by applicable station procedures. 12. Reports any unusual/abnormal conditions which are encountered. 13. Maintains work area in a clean, neat and radiologically safe condition. Observes all Health Physics regulations pertaining to job. 14. Performs radiation and contamination surveys of work areas and equipment, records results as directed. 15. Maintains thorough knowledge of appropriate Plans and Procedures, Radiological Health and Safety Programs, Industrial Safety Programs, Plant Controlled Access Areas and Security Procedures. 16. Complies with station procedures and policy implementing the effective Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Regulatory Guides, National Standards, Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) permits, and subsequent changes, applicable to the work performed. 17. Participates in, and successfully completes, all aspects of training and requalification programs in part consisting of written and oral examinations, lectures, on-the-job training and self-study. 18. Maintains ESW Spray Pond chemistry and adds chemicals as required. This may require the acquisition of a PA Boating Education Safety Certificate. 19. Performs monitoring and operation of Sewage Treatment Plant. 20. Performs roving or stationary fire watch during emergencies or upon failure of fire protection systems. 21. Participates on site emergency First-Aid team. 22. Performs monitoring and operation of Cooling Tower acid addition skids. 23. Performs such other related duties as assigned or as necessary. MINIMUM ENTRY **REQUIREMENTS:** 1. High school diploma and at least one of the following: A. Bachelor's degree with a major in Chemistry or one of the natural sciences. B. Three years' analytical experience working in a laboratory in the areas of water chemistry or radiochemistry. C. Navy Engineering Laboratory Technician Certification. 2. Satisfactory physical and mental condition as evidenced by successfully passing company-provided examinations. 3. Ability to satisfactorily complete Chemistry Technician training as evidenced by successful completion of Chemistry Technician selection examination. 4. Ability to make decisions requiring judgment, choice of action, etc. 5. Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License. **Note:** You will have an opportunity to add attachments to your application.
