Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and thorough Chief Accountant to join our team in Romania. As the Chief Accountant, you will demonstrate your exceptional management skills and accounting expertise in a variety of corporate accounting practices. Your accuracy, efficiency, and in-depth knowledge of the current statutory framework for tax and financial reporting in Romania is crucial for the success on the role.

Essential Job Functions:

Oversee and manage the daily operations of the accounting staff (team of 5), including accounts payable/receivable, cash operations, Intercompany accounting, fixed assets accounting, general ledger, and payroll, providing coaching and support.

Foster collaboration and teamwork within the team members.

Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with the applicable accounting standards: USGAAP for corporate reporting purposes and Romanian GAAP for local statutory reporting purposes.

Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards.

Monitor and analyze accounting data to produce accurate financial and management reports and statements.

Leasing accounting

Ensure compliance with indirect and direct tax regulations and filings,

With support of external Tax advisors, proper handling of all tax matters and timely filing of all tax returns required by local legislation in Romania.

Interact with Tax Auditors to ensure timely and flawless completion of any tax audit.

Interact with external auditors to ensure timely and flawless completion of statutory audit process.

Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and compliance.

Provide leadership, training, and support to the team members.

Take lead in implementation of new, and enhancement of existing, finance tools and ERPs.

Collaborate with other departments to support overall company goals and objectives.

Provide advice and support to Business Groups / Global Functions on accounting and tax related matters.

Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making.

Basic Qualifications:

Minimum bachelor’s degree in accounting or a relevant field. CPA or relevant certification is a plus.

Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Chief Accountant in a corporate setting.

Exceptional computer skills, including Microsoft Office and accounting software (SUN and SAP is a plus)

Strong analytical skills and attention to details.
