The Nantucket Boys & Girls Club is seeking a strategic Chief Advancement Officer to lead the organization into its next stage of growth. This leader is responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive fundraising and marketing strategy, plan, and engine to support the Nantucket Boys & Girls Club. Working collaboratively with the Chief Executive Officer, the leadership team, and with the Board, this leader will build a fund development program to include major and individual gifts, foundation grants, endowment, corporate sponsorships, events, and other strategies to raise significant funds annually. The Chief Advancement Officer will drive awareness and advocacy of NBGC’s mission, need, and deliverables that reflect the diverse Nantucket demographics and ensure the funds to make the mission a reality.
From May to October the position will be based on Nantucket Island while there will be flexibility during the shoulder months. Annual Club events fall in early June (Sam Sylvia Golf Tournament) and August (Tim Russert Summer Groove).
ResponsibilitiesKEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Understand, support, and articulate the mission and principles of the Nantucket Boys and Girls Club. Lead all aspects of the Nantucket Boys & Girls Club fundraising program.Spearhead an endowment capital campaign and related legacy gift campaign. Formulate long-term fundraising strategies to grow and diversify the Club’s philanthropic revenue.Create and implement an annual strategic fundraising plan.Develop strong relationships with the Board of Trustees, the Chair of the Development Committee, staff, key funders, influencers, and others critical to individual and institutional fundraising efforts.Oversee, execute, and report on the Club’s fundraising activities, including annual giving (mail and digital), mid-level and major gift prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, institutional funding (including public funding), and corporate partnerships.Be primarily responsible for the success of the Club’s annual fundraising events and oversee event execution.Coordinate and support the Chief Executive Officer’s and Board’s fundraising efforts, including prospect outreach, meeting preparation and follow-up, strategy development, pipeline management, and gift proposals.Manage a personal pool of 50-75 major gift prospects and donors.Supervise the Donor Relations Manager, Events & Marketing Manager, Event Consultant, and the Public Funding Consultant; monitoring performance and providing ongoing feedback; support career efforts.Oversee the procedures and programs by which gifts are recorded and acknowledged, donors are recognized, and accurate financial records and files are maintained in accordance with IRS and donor requirements. 10+ years of experience as a fundraising and development leaderDemonstrated success in fundraising; annual campaigns, grants, endowment and planned givingProven knowledge of fundraising techniques and sources of funding for non-profitsStrong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to effectively communicate the organization's mission and impact to stakeholders.
