In this role, you will:
Provide engineering domain knowledge in line with all applicable procedures, codes and standards to technically support the full engineering change lifecycle management of systems within the Combat System discipline; Technically lead and/or mentor multi-disciplinary teams of Engineers, Technologists and Designers in the development, design, and integration of complex engineering solutions to new or existing Combat Systems; Support the identification and prioritisation of tasks in collaboration with program managers, customers, and internal stakeholders and bring your experience in delivering projects to support the planning, monitoring and delivery of Combat System projects to the required quality, time, and cost; Influence and provide innovation during early stage solution development to reduce technical risk and maximize customer benefits; Be responsible for the quality and accuracy of Combat System engineering outputs, including using domain and system engineering knowledge to engage in the engineering life cycle, ranging from requirements definition through to project delivery and in-service support; Plan and support internal engineering governance and verification activities. Maintain effective partnerships with a wide variety of stakeholders including external stakeholders, customers, and other internal technical teams; and Communicate engineering subjects, issues, solutions and risks effectively to all stakeholders (i.e. technical and non-technical stakeholders) and act as a Combat Systems SME, providing thought leadership within the submarine combat system enterprise.
The ideal candidate brings:
An engineering degree from an accredited Canadian educational institute or from a recognized foreign equivalent; and A Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licence in good standing with current registration or eligibility to register in the Province of British Columbia; or Graduation from an accredited engineering technologist program along with extensive relevant experience in lieu of an engineering degree and P.Eng licence. Extensive experience (15+ years) as an engineer / technologist in the defence or high-integrity engineering environment; Significant experience (10+ years) relevant to combat systems engineering design or systems engineering; Proven leadership skills and significant experience (10+ years) leading technical teams and delivering technical projects; Understanding and proven experience in the application of the system engineering design lifecycle; Experience in the physical and functional integration of Combat and/or Mission Systems within the Naval environment is considered an asset; and Strong demonstrable leadership qualities and excellent inter-personal skills with the ability to work with others, at all levels within the organization and often without direct or formal authority. You are eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance.
