Chief Construction Supervisor
Job Description:The Local Chief Construction Supervisor shall manage the local teams and support the Lead Construction Supervisor to ensure the delivery and successful completion of construction projects. Responsibilities include:Working as the deputy for the lead construction supervisor as permanent full-time position during the project construction phase in Qena Governorate (approximately from September 2024 to October 2026. Extension beyond 2026 is possible, depending on project performance).Managing the local FIDIC (Red Book) Engineer’s Supervision team for the following construction activities (note this is a non-exhaustive list):Factory inspections of plant and equipment (if required) within Egypt.Testing and approval of materials and equipmentChecking the contractor variation order requests and issuing Variation Order reports when necessaryMeasurement of the works done.Check and certification of the Contractor’s payment applications.Completion of the construction diary on a daily basisReview and approval of Contractors shop and as-built drawingsPreparation of snagging lists and following-up and certification of the Contractor’s remedy of snags.Supporting the local water companies (Affiliated Company) during the hand-over of completed works.Ensuring the highest possible HSE (Health, Safety and Environmental) work practice, in accordance with the applicable national, international and industrial standards. The Local Chief Construction Supervisor shall support the Lead Construction Supervisor to ensure that the Contractor is fully aware of the applicable HSE standards and shall monitor his compliance with them. Any HSE violation during construction shall be reported directly to the Lead Construction Supervisor and then to the local water companies (Affiliated Company) with supporting documents (report, photographs, etc.).Working with the Project Principal and Project Manager to deliver a commercially successful project, within budget, while ensuring contract terms and risk mitigations are put into practice and that risks are actively managed throughout project deliveryIdentifying and maintaining a forecast of resourcing needs and requirements for successful project delivery.Managing inputs and outputs of project staff, including national and international sub-consulting firms and individuals.The assignment is based in Egypt and is currently a fixed term role (approximately from October 2024 to October 2026). Extension beyond 2026 is possible, depending on project performance.While this role is full-time in Egypt, additional inputs, potentially including assignments outside Egypt and head office inputs (Cambridge UK, or Arnhem Netherlands) may be considered depending on the candidate. Candidate Specification: The following experience/capabilities are essential for this role:University degrees in civil engineeringSignificant experience with demonstrated expertise in construction supervision of large infrastructure projectsSignificant experience as a construction supervisor for large water or wastewater projects in Egypt Team management experienceExperience with the Egyptian administration and local project coordinationExperience with international development programs/projectsFluent in Arabic and EnglishBased full-time in the governorates of Qena for the entire two-year construction phase. Job Profile: We are looking for an experienced Local Chief Construction Supervisor to join our International Development Team in Mott MacDonald to work as the deputy for the Lead Construction Supervisor and oversee local construction activities for ongoing water and sanitation projects in Egypt. This is a senior role, and the successful candidate will be contributing to the commercial success of project.
