As the Chief Design Engineer you will hold a key governance role providing strategic direction for technical activities undertaken by the business.
You will lead and develop a small multi-faceted team and you will have exposure and coverage across whole lifecycle and product groups. As the Chief Design Engineer you will be leading regular meetings and engagement with customer stakeholders at all levels and will have the opportunity to travel to customer operational bases. The Chief Design Engineer PWR1 and PWR2 role truly provides broad variety and an excellent platform to develop and progress through the business.

As the Chief Design Engineer you will support the Chief Engineer’s role, as PWR1 and PWR2 Technical Authority representative, to ensure appropriate technical solutions and product safety are delivered whilst ensuring appropriate safety and engineering governance is applied. Is functionally accountable to the Chief Engineer PWR1 and PWR2.

What you will be doing
With this attractive opportunity you will get a chance to:
Provide strategic engineering direction, governance and endorsement for technical activities undertaken by the business.Ensure that design, procurement, installation, configuration management, development and operation are undertaken in accordance with the appropriate standards and processes.Liaises with DBU Engineering Managers if the technical solution or product change being pursued by their programme is at variance with current policy or processes.Take the engineering lead on emergent technical issues and ensure that the Safety Alert and Red Top Process is implemented as necessary. Represent the Chief Engineer in discussions with customers and other stakeholders.Who we’re looking for:

To be successful in this role you will need to:

To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines business an individual has to hold a Security Check clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you do not currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets we can only progress applications from individuals who are a UK national or, in MoD approved cases, a dual national.
