Chief Engineer

Summit Search Group has partnered with Actionmarguerite on the recruitment of their next Working Chief Engineer.

Founded in 2011, Actionmarguerite offers exceptional long-term care services for vulnerable individuals through personal care homes, specialized care programs, and community foundations. As a community-based, bilingual organization, Actionmarguerite is committed to enhancing the quality of life for both French- and English-speaking residents in a home-like, culturally attentive environment.

The Working Chief Engineer is responsible for maintaining and overseeing all essential operational systems, including heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning equipment, electrical systems (both utility and emergency power), as well as visible systems like elevators, grounds, and lighting.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain HVAC, electrical, fire protection, and firefighting equipment. Operate and maintain structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems within the facility. Manage the Preventative Maintenance Program, ensuring all maintenance and repairs are completed as required. Train and develop staff, fostering an open and respectful work environment.

Qualifications:

Education:

Valid Manitoba or Inter-provincial 3rd Class Power Engineer Certificate.

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of Power Engineering experience. Proven experience in maintaining fire protection systems and Preventative Maintenance Programs. Experience managing large facilities, preferably in healthcare. Competency in personal computing and relevant software applications.

Skills and Abilities:

Ability to assess and utilize information from Preventative Maintenance Programs. Demonstrated leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills in both French and English. Strong decision-making skills and understanding of technical language. Good physical and mental health. Current Criminal Record Check for Vulnerable Sector and Adult Abuse Registry Check.

Knowledge:

The Power Engineers Act. Budgetary management and “best practice” standards in facility management. Safe and effective operational practices in large facilities.
